The Chemistry Fair!

Hey guys! This is it! The last evaluation for this school term and school year! To wrap it up I would like to know a bit more of our last fair experience, which in my opinion, was really amazing!
Use these questions to reflect about your experience. Write a comment at the end of this blog. Copy and paste all the questions and as a group, answer them briefly.

1.    What are the participants or your group members of your Chemistry fair?

2.    Categorize your product into a field, for example: health, education, science & technology, grooming, food & cooking, etc.

3.    Depending on your category, explain how relevant it was to work on your product for the chemistry fair. How important and why it is for the viewers and visitors at your stand to know the chemical and general aspects of your creation.

4.    How did you decorate your stand and dressed up? Was it according to your product? Did you have a theme? A name? Explain it.

5.    What did you learn from this whole experience in “The chemistry fair”?

6.    Add a picture if you want.

You have until Friday June 26th to complete this task.
Thanks for sharing.

  1. The participants of my group are Fiorella Sarmiento, Valeria Fernandez, Jorsedith Guilarte and me, Carolina Ruiz.
The category of my product would probably be Food and Cooking.
Actually working in my product was totally necessary since we couldn't know what were the differences between sweeteners and sugar. Of course, some of our investigation was made with internet and books, but most of the information was gotten with our own experience. Its important for the visitors to know the chemical characteristics of the sugar because is one of the most used ingredients in the world, and people only see it as "delicious" and "'maybe a little bad" but they dont know how bad it could be and why, thats the information we needed to communicate.
The decoration was very simple but very feminine. All was pink or purple, with some black. we made some of our decoration, such as the lovely pom poms and our race track. We dressed up in pink, obviously, but Valeria dressed like the princess Vanellope, of Sugar Rush, a game thats on a Disney's movie. It was according to my product because the game was all about a kingdom where everything was sweet and made of sugar. Like a said before, the theme was the Disney's videogame "Sugar Rush". The name of our fair, again, it was Sugar Rush because of the game. I learn how important was to do everything in time and to everyone involved liked what we are doing, because only like that, we manage to have a good fair that maybe it wasn't perfect and maybe not everyone liked it, but we loved it, and thats the important thing.

3)Depending on your category, explain how relevant it was to work on your product for the chemistry fair. How important and why it is for the viewers and visitors at your stand to know the chemical and general aspects of your creation.

We say the experiment connects with education because the project consists in 4 basic reactions:, exothermic reaction, decomposition, catalysis and redox which are commonly used to teach students the difference these reactions can make through other experiments.
For the public, they can have a very entertaining show of colorful foam, a very fun process for kids and also impressive for older people.

4)How did you decorate your stand and dressed up? Was it according to your product? Did you have a theme? A name? Explain it.

Our stand was decorated with balloons, some cookies, lollypops, a sheet with the materials and ingredients, a large cardboard with a drawing of the experiment and a big appealing sheet with our project's name title: elephant's toothpaste with some pictures, one of people brushing an elephant's teeth, however, the title of the experiment is universal and it is not really used as toothpaste for elephants. We wore lab coats which are regularly used in the experiment, we could also have worn rubber gloves and laboratory lenses but in this case, we didn't apply the dangerous way of the experiment, so they weren't needed.

5)What did you learn from this whole experience in “The chemistry fair”?

In this fair, we learned that chemistry, is used so much in our lives and this science is very important to the human since we can discover lots of things by chemistry, as for other stands, we could see varied experiments which were also as interesting as ours and learned that chemistry can represent in many different ways.

6)Add a picture if you want.

3)Has to do with the kitchen as it involves two chemical reactions is the first emulcificacion butter and the other from the disintegration of the cream into buttermilk and butter.

And for the viewer it is interesting as I currently Hay a massive shortage of butter and homemade We teach a way to produce it.

4}Our booth had a sign that said butter because that was the name . I set our stall was yellow because that is the typical color of butter and anime figures of cows to milk comes from there .

    5) We learn many things such as: Facility elaborate homemade butter , its origin , its chemical composition ( contains a lot of fat ) , the amount of butter is recommended to consume and the benefits and disadvantages caused by the ingestion of butte

    3.    Depending on your category, explain how relevant it was to work on your product for the chemistry fair. How important and why it is for the viewers and visitors at your stand to know the chemical and general aspects of your creation.
In our stand at the chemistry fair visitors could learn not only about our product, the chemical characteristics  of it, or how we did it, they could learn also of something as important as the reactions produced by the light, and how they can affect us every day without our knowledge, the visitors could have learned how something as simple  as our product helps to reduce something as important as it may be one of the reactions produce by the light, which is called free radicals , because they can cause cancer , heart problems , hepatitis, diabetes and much more, also visitors could learn of the most interesting facts about our product, that was the lipstick, and how yo make it las more, without using log duration lipstick.

Also we wanted to make our visitors fell as if they were in a photo shoot.

    5.    What did you learn from this whole experience in “The chemistry fair”?
We learned that its bad to use , long duration lipstick because it has a lot of chemicals that can put in a risk our health , one of the facts that we learned and was the most interesting , is first
    1.  Use a lip scrub to exfoliate those little dudes away.
    2. Next, apply a hydrating, non-oily lip balm. Anything with a waxy consistency is preferred over a slippery texture that will cause color to slide right off.
    3. Pat a little of foundation over your . Don't entirely erase your mouth. If you have a dark skin tone, this also helps enhance the lipstick's true color.
    4. If you're wearing a bold lip color, outlining the outer edge of your lip line with concealer. Outline and tap softly with your finger to blend the lipstick.
    5. Now, we take a lip liner and outline the lips, as well as fill them in.
    7. Fill in the rest of your lips.
    8. Take a tissue and separate it into two halves. Place one sheet on your lips and dust a translucent powder over the lips, through the tissue. This is a trick you'll see makeup artists doing backstage at fashion shows.
